Circle the Cirque Crest
The maw of the beast, Goddard Creek Canyon, one of the most remote locations in the Sierra visited by man on a somewhat regular basis, in an area that is arguably the most remote region of the Sierra. Many named peaks can be seen in this picture. Below can be seen the green of the Goddard Creek Canyon bottom, another "classic bushwhack" of the Sierra. You can have it: I am not going there.

Once we were on the top we hiked levelly over the broad ridge top till we reached the north facing ridges and embraced spectacular views to the north of Middle Fork Kings Canyon, Goddard Creek Canyon and the park north country. This view alone made the whole trip worthwhile. Tearing our eyes away from the view we headed upward towards the first days goal, Gray Pass. After a few minutes hiking we began to notice we were on a faint use trail. Soon the trail became quite clear and as it leveled out, it became as good a trail as you would find anywhere in the park.
