Time was pressing, so we began our long trip downward. Once again we were surprised to find an obvious trail leading downward, which took us about 1/3 of the way down before fading away. Then it was a dilemma figuring out which way to go, and then how to cross a bunch of red loose talus to get to the large meadow 100 feet below. Dave found his own way down ahead of me while I cautiously picked my way through the evil red rocks till I reached a rock rib that lead me down to the meadow. By this time I was out of water and too dehydrated for a person of my experience. Dave was below making good time and I followed, eventually nearing a headwall and, surprise surprise, a very good trail to the right that made getting by the headwall a snap. Once clear of the tricky headwall, the trail faded away yet again.
