Lake Basin

Lake Basin. More classic timberline country. This picture was taken from the same spot as the previous picture, only to the right looking SW. Below, lake 10,592, and to the right "Horsehead Lake" and another unnamed lake to the right of that. Beyond you can see the obvious depression below Red Pass, to the left of Red Point. Just above Red Pass can be seen White Pass to the right of prominent snow-flanked Marion Peak. Who could ask for more of wilderness?

We looked up at the approaches to Dumbbell Pass, seeing it would take more time to explore the pass than we had time left that day. It would be a steep hard climb avoiding bush and talus, but not impossible. Well, we plan to bag Observation Peak someday, so we may get back to that pass.
