Circle the Cirque Crest

Both of these pictures were taken very near the same spot and shooting in the same direction. The one at the bottom was taken early season, and an excellent time to visit. We were able to snowshoe early season and therefore better able to travel this basin than in the summer. This basin is one of the better Sierra destinations but you have to work hard to get there.

When the excessively undulating trail met a large meadow in Granite Basin, Dave went up the trail towards Granite Pass to meet the faltering father of the backpacker we had met to perhaps give him some food. I went on cross-country to Granite Lake to scout a camp. Two days and 5000+ feet climbing had pooped me out, and I was ready for a major rest by the time I got to the lake.
