Kern-Kaweah and Kaweah Basins
This waas the view from our camp. This is just a fraction of the beauty of this area.

At the end of the meadow was a white granite dyke, which was the obvious reason the meadow formed behind it. The meadow most likely was a large shallow lake at some time in the past, and indeed near the outlet was Gallats Lake. The "lake" was no more than a widening of the river, but who am I to argue with whomever made this "lake" determination? The dyke was glacier polished and smooth, decorated with the usual glacial erratics. A trip down to the end of the dyke at the outlet revealed multiple cascades terminating in an impressive fall. Near where the "lake" terminated at its outlet we found a nearly perfect camp, and we decided right there this would be our home for the next two nights. We hot-footed it back to our packs and hauled them to our new home, which seemed to be smack-dab in the middle of paradise.
