The Ottoway Lakes Loop
The moon also rises...when the time is right. Here we see Merced Peak in Alpine Glow.
Evening at Lower Ottoway Lake
The Ottoway Lakes Loop, September 2004 The reds finally reached a deep red saturated point, then it was as if someone just switched off the red light and the remaining light changed to dim gray. It was all very sudden. Seeing that, I heaved a sigh, and strolled back to camp and my chair for a sit-down and a read. That sunset was quite a show. The day had been quite warm, and I was anticipating another bitter cold night, but that was just not the case. I did not need a fire (even if it was legal there), and the evening remained relatively balmy till full dark. The full moon was coming on, so I soon had plenty of moonlight to keep me company, a real boon when you have two or more hours to burn before bedtime. Soon enough it was time to abandon the blue neon illuminated moonscape for bed, and I headed off for a good nights sleep.
