Big Five / Little Five Lakes Loop
Here is a trail and bear-box for the Pinto Lake and Cliff Creek Camp. The camps are in the woods.
Cliff Creek Camp
Big 5, Little 5 Lakes Loop and Sawtooth Pass, August 4th to 7th, 2000.
Dropping down a ways, the faint trail forked to the left for the pass, and right to the camps. At last, fairly level although damp (from the previous week's storms) level spots to camp, and fairly pleasant in form and surroundings to boot. The waterfall source flowed around one side of camp providing reliable water. A huge bear/marmot box marked the junction, and fancying a rest and snack, I went into the camp area and found a bench to sit on and take a snack break.Above the camp woods is the cliffs of Cliff Creek Canyon. Cool!
The area was somewhat wooded providing good shade from the mid-day heat. Pinto Lake was nowhere to be seen and was mostly surrounded by high bush down to the banks. One shore on the north end allowed access, and this I only saw from above on the trail.
