Big Five / Little Five Lakes Loop
A typical early morning in the Sierra, with some exceptional scenery reflected in the calm mirror waters of the lake. The low point on the horizon is a col just above and overlooking Spring lake.

August 6th, 2000, Day 3.
After a good nights sleep, I woke up knowing it was to be an easy day. It was a typical sunny Sierra day of a non-typical year of sudden snits of snow, rain, hail and punctuated with periods of humidity and heat. Welcome to global warming. This was my view from camp. Note the changing quality of light, and what it does to the surroundings.
I packed up and found the remains of trail leading down to the next lake. Deadfall and overgrowth frustrated the way, and several times the trail was just flat gone. I had to fight my way through bush and snags occasionally along a stream and then the complex shoreline.
