The Lowest Big Five Lake

Big 5, Little 5 Lakes Loop and Sawtooth Pass, August 4th to 7th, 2000.

At a verge, the trail dived downward on broad switchbacks. The distance to travel downward and the number of switchbacks took me by surprise, and once again I was glad I was doing the trip in this direction. The next lake was a good distance below me, and it took a while to get to the shore of the lake. As I neared the shore I noted the pleasant tree canopied level surroundings carpeted by pine needles. There were several places to bivy that I could see, and as the trail leveled out near the lake, there was plenty of scenic spots to fish or just to admire the view of the white granite crags reflected in the waters of the green surrounded lake. It was a very nice place.
