A Solo Hike Along the Silver Divide

Silver Divide Trip

Looking down on Pocket Meadow on the North Fork Mono Creek. Recess Peak can be seen, as well as Volcanic Knob. Recently I headed up the far canyon to Pioneer Basin, the subject of another story.

Pocket Meadow Overlook

Silver Divide Trip from Edison Lake Trailhead, August-September 2001

Not far from camp was a wide bare white granite shoulder of point 9866 where I could sit in my chair and enjoy the far ranging views over Pocket Meadow 700 odd feet below. I knew from past experience that the trail passed below my feet, and in early season, hikers would be treated to walking past meadow outlet waterfalls. Nearby the outlet stream passed over the brink on its way to Pocket Meadow.

I spent the evening admiring the views well into dark, and finally retreated to the sack, ending a fairly hard day of hiking.
