Bubbs Creek at Junction Meadow, one of the Sierra magic spots. Nearby is the trail to East Lake and the eastern approaches of Mt. Brewer

Another End of the Trail

25-26 Sept., Day 7-8, Bubbs Creek Drainage
I do not have much to say because we have closed the loop of the trip. We did travel down to then up Bubbs Creek to Junction Meadow in preparation of crossing the creek the next day. For some reason it was all I could manage just to get to Junction Meadow: I had not really fully recovered from the long previous day. The weather was getting progressively bad day by day, and by the following day it was raining off and on, and it was fairly cold. We could see that it was snowing at the higher elevations. Also, because of the fairly heavy snow pack and late spring, Bubbs Creek was still a roaring monster. When we broke camp the next day, the rain, the river, the cold and pressing domestic matters at home convinced us to head back to the trailhead and home a day or so early. So we fairly ran down the trail, occasionally being pelted by rain, only stopping at the Sphinx Creek Bridge for lunch and water. Shortly afterwards we were back at the trailhead and soon driving through scattered showers at the parks entrance. And so closed a fairly epic adventure replete with highs and lows, but forever burned into my memory.
