Mt. Whitney From Cottonwood Lakes

Iceberg Lake, living up to its name, sits below. The mountaineer approach to Mt. Whitney can be seen below, with the small lake along the route just in view.

We have an interest in doing the Mountaineer Route, so we were interested in seeing the approach up from Lone Pine and up Mt. Whitney itself, so we wandered around examining the approaches.

Gosh, what a great campsite. It is a little exposed and chilly...but the view! WOW!

We saw all the sights from the horizon in all directions to the lovely campsites near the hut. Camping there did not look appealing to say the least.
