Deadman Canyon Loop

Dead21

Yes, there is a trail that goes down this canyon and crosses the top of the falls seen ahead, eventually leading to the pass to the right, presently out of sight. Coppermine Pass can be seen on the middle horizon.

The Canyon Headwall

Deadman Canyon Loop - By D.W.Donehoo (All rights reserved)

Eventually, after climbing to 9200 feet , you crest the last major "giant step" of Deadman Canyon to face the overwhelming unobstructed vista of the canyon headwall. In the clear mountain air the canyon end does not look far away, however, the waterfall at the end of the canyon coming down from the headwall is two miles away! An excellent example of glacial action, this section of the canyon is the perfect "U" shape of a glacial bed. If it is early season, most of the headwall will be covered with show and the remains of the vast glacier that once filled this canyon clings to the southern edges of the cirque wall.
