A Backpack to the Remote Lyell Fork of the Merced River
The left forested canyon is the Triple Peal fork (the main trail is there) and the middle canyon is the Merced Peak Fork. On the left horizon is Post Peak and Isberg Peak.
The Viewpoint: Merced and Triple Peaks Forks
A Trail and Cross-Country Route to the Lyell Fork, July 2007
It was interesting looking down on the canyons I walked through a few years before. See the The Ottoway Lakes Loop issue of Sierra-Trails for more information. After taking many more pictures seen here, I finally forced myself away from the grand viewpoint and headed up the only real switchbacks at this end of the High Trail.
The Ottoway Lakes Loop story in Sierra-Trails has pictures (page 40) of the falls and cascades seen down there in this picture.
