Following Emeric Creek

A Trail and Cross-Country Route to the Lyell Fork, July 2007

The Emeric Trail

Heading up the Emeric Lake trail, we began a climb of over 400 feet to the next level section in mostly sparse forest with no really great views to speak of. The trail shows a lazy "S" switchback, but I saw no such thing. After a while of climbing, we neared Emeric Creek, which was below us on the left and mostly out of sight. I stopped now and then for pictures and Dave passed: fine with me because then I would not be rushed for pictures or hesitate to stop to take in a view or two, which I did. The trail again wandered away from the creek and climbed for a while in forest then began to level out and pockets of open meadow began to show up.

Some typical Emeric Creek trail.

Lyell Fork Trip

At last the trail reaches some small tarns.
