A Backpack Cross-Country Traverse of the Minarets
Looking towards Deadhorse Lake seemed to present a problem with all of that talus in the way, but it was deceiving. We would know better soon when we explored. Getting down to the meadow would be trivial. The Roper route danced off to our right, but we had other ideas and wanted to see the lake and went left on an easy slope.Looking From Deadhorse Pass towards the entrance to Deadhorse Lake.
The View From Deadhorse Pass
A Cross-Country Traverse of the Minarets, August/September 2006This particular pass may be a low easy pass, but like many passes, what a view! We were standing above a garden spot: meadow and stream below, far views to out right and wild peaks all around. The scenery was just stunning.
The Minaret that looms over Minaret Lake spikes into the sky. Below, the park-like lawns and meadows of the Deadhorse Lake outlet stream. The way down is easy.
Volcanic Ridge is on the right which overlooks Minaret Lake. We will be heading in that direction soon. Another easy walk is ahead.
