It was fairly obvious we were in the transition zone with massive groves of trees such as Jeffery Pine and very old huge aspens. Lots of bush lined the trail to go with the sandy tread, and the usual jumble of canyon bottom boulders decorated the trailside now and then.
Just in case you were wondering what the north wall of the canyon looked like, well there ya go... This was near where the trail hit the canyon floor.
This section of trail, as with most canyon bottom, was fairly uneventful, but the the views that opened up now and then kept things interesting. It was very pleasant walking so far.
