A Solo Hike Along the Silver Divide
Peter Panda Lake on a perfect morning. These are the kind of mornings and views you pray for while you wait for Winter to end. That is peak 11225 on the left, with Graveyard Peak to the right.
The Morning Reflections of Peter Panda
Silver Divide Trip from Edison Lake Trailhead, August-September 2001
Day 4, September 3rd, 2001: When I woke up at dawn, I rushed out to take pictures. Since the lake and the divide faces northeast, I was guaranteed to get the morning alpenglow, and it did not disappoint me. The proof is in the pictures. I rushed to my pre-chosen spot on the white sand beach and took numerous pictures. The lake was a perfect unruffled mirror in dead calm and remained so most of the morning. The morning sun brought out the handsome shapes of the peaks in pleasant relief, turning the white granite into soft golds. I did not see much in the way of fish, although I knew they must be there.
Graveyard Peak is on the left of a march of un-named peaks of the Silver Divide. I later headed for the far end of this lake.
The only concern was the high thin clouds, usually a harold of frisky weather.
After breakfast, I prepared a day-pack for the days excursions to the area of Anne Lake at the foot of Peter Panda Lake and the Silver Divide.
