A Solo Hike Along the Silver Divide

Silver Divide Trip

That is point 10,752 feet, a landmark of sorts for those doing the PCT/JMT. I remembered it well from my first visit. I may be up there one of these days from the other side. Looks like a good route on this side too, if its not too bushy.

Point 10,752 Feet.

Silver Divide Trip from Edison Lake Trailhead, August-September 2001

Stomping down the trail well past Silver Pass Lake, a familiar landmark comes into view, to travelers of the JMT/PCT. That landmark is point 10,752 feet, a tower of rock sticking out from the main crest that divides the JMT and Graveyard Meadows.

The trail passes beneath the rock tower into small forests of trees that are progressively taller the lower you go. There is a camp near Silver Pass Creek where you cross once you have descended into the small canyon, and I suspect there are camps near the outlet of Silver Pass Lake. The creek camp is in full view from the trail and not the best spot to stop, in my opinion.

Following the creek, the trail drops another 200 feet or so to what I call "Upper Pocked Meadow".
