Sphinx Lakes in Kings Canyon

An unnamed mountain between Cross Mountain and North Guard. The little line of trees guard a small lake and shelter a camp-site. There are a few camp-sites at this lake as well.

There are a few scattered trees here and there showing the stresses of the harsh winters, some providing scant shelter for rocky camps. A well used and defined trail connects the two large sister lakes. A low nearby ridge sports a row of large storm-battered trees clinging to the white cold fractured granite.
