Brewer Basin in Kings Canyon
Big Brewer Lake looking towards the outlet as the lake is turned to the north. We hoped to find a camp in the trees at the outlet seen ahead.
Turning Big Brewer Lake
We saw a very large tree below that we held some hope would hide a camp spot, but we found nothing suitable and moved wearily on. We moved down to the lake shore still on easy terrain, passing yet another possible camp and were forced to trudge upward to bypass a long ledge, and found a barely passable camp and stopped for yet another rest. Across the way on our route I saw a large bolder that might shelter yet another better camp, so after a short discussion we shouldered our bags and tiredly headed for the bolder. As we neared the bolder, it was apparent nothing good would be found there so I headed ever so slowly upward to bypass a cliff at the waters edge, with Dave soon following. After a short traverse that ended in a level section in a master joint, we knew we could make a passable camp somewhere near there, and soon we found no less than three seldom used small camp and tent sites.
