Brewer Basin in Kings Canyon

Mt. Brewer over Brewer Basin!
We dropped our bags yet again to explore the place, determined to find the optimum campsite without resorting to dropping lower to the area suggested by Mr. Arnot in his "High Sierra" book. Soon Dave reported finding an excellent site across the stream. I had found a stream crossing as well as a few lesser sites so after recovering my bag, I used the nearby step across ford, and met Dave at what was undoubtedly one of the best camps we have experienced in the Sierra. It was a large level packed soil and pine needle spot sheltered by a large grove of Whitebark Pines with plenty of level granite and convenient trees nearby.
Water was not far away sliding over polished granite or collecting in large fish filled pools. Down below were some cascades surrounded with dozens of varieties of colorful flowers I dubbed Budwiser Falls because it looked like, for want of a better phrase, a beer commercial. Our view of Mt. Brewer was unspoiled and ideal. There were even large expanses of lawn nearby suitable for putting practice, if you were into that sort of thing. We had found a paradise. I wanted to stay forever.
