Brewer Basin in Kings Canyon

Yup, Mt. Brewer is a talus heap. This is what we traversed and eventually climbed through to get to the top. The talus was much steeper towards the top.

A Mountaineering Accident?

While we sat and chewed, Dave spotted our camp neighbors far below at the spot where we began the talus traverse. I will never know how Dave saw them: they were merely specks, dark tiny dots among the talus. I had to look a long time with coaching from Dave before I saw them, and when I did something strange happened. One of the dots suddenly moved rapidly downward, about the width of a thumb held at arm length. All of the dots converged and became one, and all the while we were there they never budged from that spot. What had happened? Did I imagine it? Dave saw the same thing, and mentioned it later when we discussed it.
