A Walk on the Tablelands
Looking across the Buck Creek drainage to a nearly sheer granite ridge, and beyond, the Great Western Divide and Black Kaweah. In the foreground is the last trees of timberline. Note the glacier polished walls.
A Mile of Sheer Granite
Further SE along the ridge there are two places to walk out to overlook points to improved views of the surroundings and the Buck Creek drainage. And what surroundings they were! Across from us we could see enormous near vertical sheer clean granite walls, small lakes, cliff promontories, the sweep of the Great Western Divide, deep canyons and the great unchanged wilderness of granite and sky. Already our trip was made, and it was not yet even half over.
