A Walk on the Tablelands

Table15

The way was well defined, and most of the time as good as any trail in the Sierra, or even better. The low point ahead is where the trail is heading. After our water break, it was an easy walk to the lake from this point.

A Clear Route

Here at the ridge the trail gets confusing: there are several marked routes but no true trails. Actually there was one we did not see till later, and to find it you have to go NW to the left of the ridge on easy terrain, but we did not discover this until later. We instead headed
directly up the ridge to the NW over fairly easy cross-country talus until we found the trail sweeping up from below on our left. Here the trail crosses the ridge and plunges down into a very small valley to the north on well built switchbacks.
