The Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne and Falls
A long cascade ended in a pool not too far from the brink of LeConte Falls.
Pools and Cascades
The Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne and Falls, June 2004The next section of trail is unique in that it provides a wide variety of views along an almost continuous section of cascades. The first we came across was a long cascade ending in a deep relatively calm emerald pool. Thereafter the pool became a calm stretch of water that would soon slide over LeConte Falls.
The view up the cascades was pretty interesting as well, with water foaming, misting and crashing down a stairway of granite slabs.
From this fine spot, the trail veered away from the river and climbed.
A little further up the trail from the picture above this one the trail nears the cascade for cool views down the canyon over crashing whitewater.
This is looking up-stream from the same spot the picture above this one was shot. This might be a interesting fairly dry granite staircase in late season.
