Mt. Whitney From Cottonwood Lakes

Looks like we are running out of peaks out there to the south. The trail coming up from below is just below this section. Perhaps this was the way up to the summit in the 1800's.

A scan of the horizon encompasses over a hundred miles, probably much more, and from the summit I could look down nearly 10,000 feet to Lone Pine. Every feature I feverishly studied on countless maps was there for me to see and recognized, and I was blessed with the fair weather that enabled me to see it all.
