Mt. Whitney From Cottonwood Lakes
The Hut and the Kaweah ridgeline (which I would visit later in the summer) make for an interesting view. Even Sawtooth Peak can be seen if you know where to look. Do you know where to look? (Hint: left).
Jabbering at the HutMt. Whitney Trip from Cottonwood Lakes Trailhead. June 2000.
After a quick view of the hut (which seemed blocked off inside and limited to one end only) and a quick look at the register (which I did not sign: I have pictures as my proof of the visit), I strolled over to the "camping area" between the lovely outdoor toilet and the hut.In case you missed it the first time, this is The Hut with the Kaweah ridgeline above it. The high peak on the left end of the Kaweah ridge is Mt. Kaweah, while mid ridge is "Flat top", looking here like an isolated tooth.
The "camp" was small forts of rocks with a fairly level sandy interior. I am sure interesting nights can be had there.
