The Benson Lake Loop
Yet another picture of the un-named peak above (unseen) Benson Lake over the first trailside lake visited when coming from Benson Lake. A great time could be spent in this area.
Heading Towards Seavey Pass
The Benson Lake Loop, August 2002
Too soon I had to leave, but the next section, starting with the lake, was sort of a Sierra Disneyland. The over-engineered rip-rap PCT trail undulated and twisted around in a most amusing way while surprising me with a variety of picture postcard tableaus. Closer to Seavey Pass, the trail passes another pretty trailside lake. Above and beyond to the right is Price Peak. Also, at multiple points, the area almost seemed to invite me off the trail to visit the nooks and crannies of the complex but easily traveled terrain. A short climb brought me to a nice viewpoint for scanning the way I came, and of a pretty pond to the north.
This is looking just to the right of the picture above (see Price Peak on the left horizon?). The lake beyond is lower than the near lake. The trail is to the right of this lake.
