The Benson Lake Loop
Arndt Lake is your basic average Sierra Lake.
Arndt Lake
The Benson Lake Loop, August 2002 The lake is mostly round, surrounded with the expected Lodgepoles with a few likely spots for camps. As lakes go, it was fairly average. It did provide a nice base-camp for those intent on exploring the nearby canyons, and I am sure if the wind were not so cold and fatigue were not catching up with me, I would have looked on it with a more favorable eye. The north-eastern shore looked like it may shelter a nice camp or two. I found a small fair not-level camp and fire ring that provided me with a good rest spot to have another lunch (my second stop in that canyon) and water break. The windy cold weather convinced me I should make for Peeler Lake that day.
