Circle the Cirque Crest

Finally, we reached a true wilderness lake. There are few signs of human visitation, the camps are primitive, and the surroundings are outstanding. Usually people pass on this lake because they are headed elsewhere, or the lake is not visited because it is not on the way to somewhere for most travelers. If you want solitude, this is it, as well as beyond on the trail.

Lower State Lake

The trail to the lower State Lake is fairly primitive and a bit overgrown in places: a true wilderness trail. It wasted no time making the altitude, and eventually leveled out in thick forest that seemed to go on and on. Finally, we arrived at the lower State Lake, a beautiful lake and a worthy destination. The camping looked very good, and the surroundings very nice. We wished we could stay.
