Circle the Cirque Crest

We thought lower State Lake was great, but upper State Lake was even more impressive. I could stay here several days just exploring, writing, taking pictures, or just hanging out trying my best to absorb all this beauty.

We continued on, the trail improving on a mild grade but still wild, until we reached the even more beautiful upper State Lake. We just had to drop our packs and sit awhile to admire this lake: large level areas and grassy swards with ample ideal camping, great vistas of cliffs, of forest, of State Peak towering above, and sparkling clear water. Reluctantly we moved on.
