A Backpack to the Remote Lyell Fork of the Merced River
My end of camp, with the kitchen set up nearby. Time to do some reading
Kicking Back in Camp
A Trail and Cross-Country Route to the Lyell Fork, July 2007
I found Dave here setting up camp and getting ready for a snooze. After a short sit-down in my chair, I unpacked and set up camp. It was no more that about 1:30 PM. After a short snooze of my own, I became antsy and climbed up over the falls and higher to other viewpoints.
Above the waterfall of "Waterfall Camp" the waters cascades down from its source high above.
Back in camp, Dave was up and about feeling better but still not great. He said he felt like he had a cold or something. The night before did not help and he near froze his butt off due to the lightweight half bag he used (he is getting a new full back for future trips). And he would be using the rain-fly for the rest of the trip to add warmth. After all these years, Dave still has not nailed down his ideal gear, and probably never will. He likes to experiment. I was comfortable the whole trip aside from my toe.
