A Backpack to the Remote Lyell Fork of the Merced River
Another look accross the Lyell Fork towards Mt. Ansel Adams.
Lyell Fork Meadow
A Trail and Cross-Country Route to the Lyell Fork, July 2007
We headed back upstream and began circling north of the meadow and Lyell Fork, an easy trek over easy terrain and mostly dry stretches of grass and meadow. Along the way I tried to line up some shots that Ansel Adams took. About halfway around it was a simple matter to head for where the Lyell Fork entered the meadow on a noisy cascade. A wet easy crossing could easily be made along here, should we have needed one. There may have even been some logs to cross in the forest ahead.
The black and white picture is an Ansel Adams Picture and my picture was taken near the same spot looking the same direction. You can see how much things have changed. Visit the Ansel Adams Gallery for reprints.
