A Backpack Cross-Country Traverse of the Minarets
The walls of Holcomb Lake. Climbers have names for the Minarets peeking up over the ridge-line.
Holcomb Lake
A Cross-Country Traverse of the Minarets, August/September 2006This lake is not a bad lake and would probably make for a pleasant stay, but we have seen that there are other lakes that have more going for them. Still, there may be more to see than what we saw the short time we were there. Certainly fishermen might love this lake, as well as swimmers, climbers, cross-country travelers and others who may find more solitude here than other lakes nearby.
Yes yesss, there be fish here my precious.
The camps I saw tended to be exposed, but others further around the lake, if they exist, may be more comfortable. Certainly this lake deserves exploring and it is centrally located.Looking up the canyon you can see that indeed cross-country looks pretty easy back up that way, with perhaps an easy route to Ashley Lake and its falls.
