A Backpack Cross-Country Traverse of the Minarets
We found our packs and settled down in the shade of tall trees for lunch before taking on the next part. It was still warm and pleasant with a slight breeze that always seems to show up in the afternoon. We saw mosquitoes on this trip, but so far nothing to speak of. Soon enough we packed up and headed out.Near the outlet of Holcomb Lake there is a pond that may be fresh enough and small enough (warm) to swim in. Note the trail. On the center horizon is the saddle we used for the next section of cross-country.
Leaving Holcomb
A Cross-Country Traverse of the Minarets, August/September 2006Well, it was getting noonish so we headed back to Noname Lake for lunch. Beyond Holcomb the trail sort of snakes around an exposed barren area before dropping down into the depression where Noname Lake sits. As we neared the lake, we once again crossed through a pleasant sheltered flower garden intersected by trail.
Near Noname Lake is this garden spot with lots of flowers. At the tall trees ahead we rested in the shade for lunch while looking over the waters of Noname Lake.
