A Backpack Cross-Country Traverse of the Minarets
We ran into the camp of three fishermen who had been deposited there by packers, and were planning to leave the next day. They had done some hiking on Nancy Pass, and they told us the way not to go, and the probable correct way. Useful information.A nice fall on the Beck outlet stream alongside the trail back to Superior Lake. Even in September, lots of flowers.
Superior Lake Camp
A Cross-Country Traverse of the Minarets, August/September 2006It was way faster going back down the trail (not on the map either). It was as well defined trail as you will find anywhere in the Sierra, rolling in and out of trees and grassy areas. Pretty soon we were back near Superior Lake.
The heavy late previous winter meant many late flowers.
Back in camp, we put our feet up, took out our books and enjoyed the rest of the day. Soon enough we had dinner and were in our tents ending a very interesting day of hiking, one of the best.
