A Backpack Cross-Country Traverse of the Minarets
Looking north-west over Rosalie Lake towards the low point on the horizon where the trail (JMT) comes over into the bowl of the lake and heads to our right around the lake.
Rosalie Lake
A Cross-Country Traverse of the Minarets, August/September 2006After a sweat-inducing climb to the ridge top, I was rewarded with a nice view of Rosalie Lake (~9337 feet) and some downhill. After a few pictures, I followed the trail left as it descended to the outlet of the lake.
After cresting the trail north of the lake, you get this nice view of Rosalie Lake. Than canyon yonder goes to Lois Lake.
I did not see many camping opportunities, but then again I was not looking too hard. I am sure they must exist. I stopped for a while at the lake outlet for a snack and cool off then hit the trail. Another climb was ahead of me.Looking from the outlet of Rosalie Lake at the canyon of Lois Lake.
On the east side of the lake the trail climbed again (good...I would rather be higher), this time about 200 feet of .3 miles. Lots of forest cover, so it was a cool ascent, as much as it can be. It was a breezy climb.
