A Solo Hike Along the Silver Divide
Almost exactly mid-picture is the overlook near my camp of two nights ago. In the wooded area is the trail.
The JMT/PCT
Silver Divide Trip from Edison Lake Trailhead, August-September 2001
Even though it had been years, I was on familiar ground again. This time the skies were not eternally stormy as with much of the first trip down that trail. This section was pleasant, but not particularly remarkable. Many places in the Sierra are similar. The slabby creek bed of the Mono Creek was fairly interesting at times, and sometimes a fair view could be had up or down canyon. Pocket Meadow was not too remarkable except to say it held several occupied campsites and a more sluggish Mono Creek. The meadow was not nearly as charming as the upper meadow or the meadow below Mott Lake. After a summer of high altitude Sierra, this to me was the lowlands which starts around 8500 feet and below in my reckoning.
Looking up the North Fork Mono Creek Canyon and the wide well beaten JMT/PCT. The tree left of center obscures the "Upper Pocket Meadow" and overlook.
