A Walk on the Tablelands
Before turning a corner, I looked back towards Panther Gap, the lowpoint below the small peak.
The REAL High Sierra Trail
Back on the trail, we were again climbing steeply upward and then mercifully the trail leveled out overall to become what I have come to associate with a trail style similar to the High Sierra Trail: A trail carved out of the steep flanks of mountains and granite slabs with drops of a thousand feet or more on one side with stupendous vistas all around. I would even say that we were on the real High Sierra Trail, the lower trail is the Middle Sierra Trail, and the trail below that is the Low Sierra Trail.
