A Walk on the Tablelands
I always like morning pictures because of the Sierra weather, which is almost always calm and cool. That usually means lake water that is like a mirror. The rocks seem to glow and the sky, cloudless.
Goodbye Moose...Lake...
SUNDAY, June 27:
We didn't know it, but this day would see us gain 1353+ accumulated feet , and lose another 3721+ feet over about 7.5 miles. The wind disappeared during the night leaving us with a sunny morning with crystal clear air, which was something of note considering the amount of haze coming from the Valley. We enjoyed the panorama of the Great Western Divide in morning light at breakfast, and afterwards packed to go after drying out our things on the rocks. The night had brought a lot of condensation to our shelters and sleeping bags. The view over the now calm reflective waters of moose-less Moose Lake is made more interesting by the myriad islands near the east shore, some connected so you can travel from the north shore to nearly the south shore.
